Clinical case: First visit: difficulties in standing up, lame when not warmed up, difficulties in sitting down. Sphincter control present.
Diagnosis: grade 4 bilateral hip dysplasia, spondylosis at T5-T6, T12-T13-L1-L2, L7-S1 (cauda equine syndrome).
Clinical examination: difficulties in standing up, mild hind end ataxia. The dog refuses to walk, he sits down. Grade 3 lumbar-sacral pain.
Front limbs: regular muscling, scar tissue due to lick granulomas on both carpal regions.
Right hind limb: regular muscling. Severe hip pain present when the limb is extended or abducted, the dog refuses to perform this movement.
Left hind limb: mild hypotrophy of muscles: gluteals, semitendinosus, semimembranosus, quadriceps, biceps, severe hip pain present when the limb is extended or abducted, the dog refuses to perform this movement.
Panniculus reflex OK.
Therapy: MLS® Laser Therapy treatments:

- Thoracic and lumbar vertebral column: “back pain” program
Clinical examination after first treatment session: no paraspinal pain on palpation of thoracic and lumbar regions. Mild bilateral pain on complete hip extension.
Right after the first session, Perseo urinated by lifting his hind limb, stance that he had not been able to perform for a long time. The owners refer that after the first treatment the dog hasn’t suffered any episode of acute pain; the dog resumed his regular appetite, and as well is again willing to go out for a walk in the park.
