Clinical case
• Brought to the clinic two weeks earlier due to sudden onset of IV degree lameness after hunting activities;
• Therapy with non-steroidal anti-inflammatories for 10 days with no clinical outcome;
• Negative remote anamnesis.
Clinical examination
• IV degree lameness tending to abduction and external rotation of the limb. Visible swelling to the left rear elbow. Pain when hyperextending the left elbow and palpating the belly of the triceps brachii muscle in the distal position and in the olecranon insertion.
X-ray examination
Presence of mineralisation at the back of the left elbow olecranon tuber.
Ultrasound diagnosis: III degree muscle lesion to the left triceps brachii muscle.
Physical medicine and rehabilitation protocol
• Administration of bromelain-based food supplement;
• MLS® Laser Therapy: “acute inflammation” points program every day for ten days, then 10 times on alternate days, then once a week for two weeks;
• At home, only rest and walks on a lead.
At 20 days there is a regression of the symptoms and an improvement of the clinical picture.
