Mui, cat with large laceration wound

SPECIES: cat
BREED: Persian
SEX: female
AGE: 3 years
NAME: Mui

Clinical case
Mui had a large wound on the hindlimb and on the forelimb. Her general conditions were weak and she was depressed and dehydrated.
The right hindlimb presented a large laceration wound located at the hamstring and the left forelimb at the radius.
Wounds were severely dirty.

Therapy
After sedation, wounds were cleaned and debrided. Lesions have been then medicated with a topical antibiotic and a gauze. Systemic antibiotics were also prescribed.
Mui received daily MLS® laser treatments for 4 days, with the following protocols:

  • First, second and third session: Protocol for “Pain (chronic)” and protocol for “Wound (infected)” with scanning modality. For each protocol, an area corresponding to 100 cm2 was treated both in the left forelimb and right hindlimb
  • Fourth session: Protocol for “Pain (chronic)” and protocol for “Wound” with scanning modality. For each protocol, an area corresponding to 100 cm2 was treated both in the left forelimb and right hindlimb

Results
At the end of the fourth MLS® treatment, Mui’s lesions were no more infected and a good granulation tissue was present, showing a good improvement in the healing process

The owner was relocated to another province. He was not convenient to continue the treatment. After that the clinic make a phone call to follow the result. The wounds have been reduced to about one fifth the size since the first visit of Mui. He really very appreciated MLS® Laser Therapy.
