Thailand: MLS® between training and solving practical cases

Tuesday, September 10, 2024

Two days of training aimed at students of the University of Chiang Mai marked the visit of the ASAveterinary staff to Thailand last August.

The session - divided into a theoretical and a practical session - saw the participation of 5 internationally renowned speakers: Dr Patrick Herbots (expert in physiotherapy for small animals and horses), Dr Napaporn Senarat (CCRP trainer, director of the Rehabilitation Department of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Kasetsart University and specialised in post-surgical rehabilitation of small animals), Dr Nijanan Siriarchawattana (Panalai Hospital and specialised in laser puncture for exotic animals), Dr Wanna Suriyasathaporn (Kasetsart University, expert in wound management) and Dr Salisa Lertsrimongkol (Kasetsart University, specialised in stomatitis).

“Where during the first day of training each speaker shared their clinical experience - explains Giacomo Granozio, ASAveterinary Export Area Manager - during the second day the emphasis was placed on the presentation of MLS® Laser Therapy with a focus on its integration with other therapeutic techniques thanks to the contribution of Dr Herbots. Particular attention was also paid to some practical tests”.

A dedicated “Laser Lab”

A space dedicated to the treatment of small animals and divided into three stations with as many ASAveterinary devices (M-VET, Mphi Vet Orange and Mphi Vet), allowed the trainers to demonstrate their use on real physiotherapy, wound management, stomatitis and laser puncture cases.

“To promote the best learning, the students were divided into groups, so as to also have ample room to ask questions to the speakers. The feedback received was extremely positive, thanks to the proactivity and organisational ability of the local distributor IBL, whose contribution was crucial to the success of the activity”.

A training session that, according to the participants, represented an “international excellence in the field of veterinary laser therapy training”.

Elephants & MLS® Laser Therapy

The Thai mission also gave the ASAveterinary team the opportunity to visit the Elephant Nature Park, a rescue and rehabilitation centre for elephants in the north of the country.

“During our visit we had the opportunity to treat an infected wound of one of the protected elephants of the centre with MLS®. The excellent results confirmed the value of our Therapeutic Solution, capable of combining efficacy and safety”, concludes Granozio.
