The MLS® Laser Therapy is the innovative therapeutic technique in veterinary medicine. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory, anti-edema, analgesic and bio-stimulant effects, has been particularly effective in the treatment of a wide range of disorders that affect companion animals, equine, and exotic animals. Among these, the wounds.
MLS® Laser Therapy, in fact, is very useful for healing because it accelerates the natural recovery process. «MLS® is a valid treatment of these disorders - explains Adelmo Rossin, ASAveterinary’s Product Specialist - thanks to its effect on biological tissues. In addition to relieving symptoms such as pain and inflammation, always present in the case of wounds, Laser Therapy stimulates the regeneration of tissues allowing to decrease the time of healing. The effects that MLS® places at the cellular level are, in fact, to increase energy production and to stimulate the synthesis of new proteins necessary for the growth and repair of damaged tissues». Each type of wound may be treated with the ASAlaser’s therapeutic solution with a little foresight. «In general, the therapy can be applied to all types of wounds and in any part of the body. In fact, it is recommended both for the treatment of acute skin wounds and for the treatment of chronic wounds such as granulomas licking. But we must consider two elements before proceeding to the treatment: the wounds shouldn’t be localized in neoplastic tissues and about their status, they shouldn’t have bacterial contamination. Even the danger of causing an increased bleeding should be evaluated. If the wound is very recent, and the risk of bleeding is present, we must treat the wound after a few hours or possibly the next day». Also, the mode of application deserves attention. In fact, if we choose the points treatment, it is recommended to separate the points of approximately 2 cm and to begin the treatment at the wound margins. If, instead, we adopt scan modality, the movement of the handpiece must be slow and regular. It is also important not to touch the granulation tissue with the handpiece, but keep it distanced approximately 0.5-1 cm from it. «The scanning treatment - specifies Rossin - can be carried out in a concentric way, from the edges of the wound and toward the center of the wound. It can be also performed by covering the area of the wound with movements similar to draw a grid». Wondering about how many applications are necessary to get the best result is legitimate. The answer is closely related to the response of the patient: in fact, the treatment may be performed daily, or according to the frequency of dressing of the wound.
